My Bloody Valentine Return With First Gig In 16 Years

Sixteen years after they last took to the stage together, My Bloody Valentine were reunited in London last night (June 12th).

The gig was the first of two warm up shows at the ICA venue ahead of the bands UK tour, which gets underway at the Roundhouse on June 20th.

Unsurprisingly, the band played a set which resurrected classics from their pioneering ‘Loveless’ and ‘Isn’t Anything' albums.

The remainder of the set comprised of songs from their various EPs and ended with a twenty minute rendition of ‘You Made Me Realise’.

You can purchase tickets for the band’s forthcoming London residency through Gigwise here.

Alternatively, you can call our ticket hotline on 0871 230 1098 for more information.

Lucas causes havoc on Celebrity Hijack

'Little Britain' star Matt Lucas has already made his mark as the first personality to act as Big Brother on the new series 'Celebrity Hijack'.
Before the contestants entered the house Lucas chose 20-year-old politician John Loughton as his guinea pig to complete a secret task.
Big Brother gave John a tiny earpiece and instructed him to say only whatever he heard through this earpiece, word for word.
He was told that completing the task successfully would earn him immunity from all evictions but failing would mean that he would be up for every single eviction.
As the other housemates entered the 'Celebrity Hijack' house, Lucas directed John to greet them, make unusual comments to them and behave oddly around them.
As part of his task he was asked to massage other people's shoulders, hug other housemates for too long, ask someone to rub his cramping leg, talk about cake a lot and dance frantically while singing to himself.
After successfully completing the task, Lucas later informed John that he had won a place in the final.
The other housemates were also told about John's task and his immunity from the public vote.

Panic At The Disco Measure Their Success With Live Shows: 'You Can't Download The Concert Ticket'

Now that they're done with the online puzzles and have successfully weathered the storm of punctuation-gate, Panic at the Disco are finally getting down to the business of being a band.

Or, more specifically, a band on the road, promoting their second album and trying to convince the naysayers that they're more than just a flash in the pan. Which is why, in their current headlining slot on the Honda Civic Tour, they've ditched the 10-ring circus that accompanied them on their last jaunt, replacing all that ephemera with a stripped-down, focused set that showcases the music and not, say, the contortionist mimes.

So how's business been? Well, it sort of depends on how you look at things. Because while that second album, Pretty. Odd., has garnered positive reviews, it's yet to really catch on with consumers (it debuted at #2 on the Billboard albums chart back in March but has currently sold less than 250,000 copies). And while most bands might be all doomy and gloomy about those numbers, Panic are more content to focus on more tangible (and, some might argue, accurate) ways of measuring success.

"It's really strange. Even on the last album, it didn't come out of the gates and have success, but there were weeks where we'd sell 50,000 records, and the album had been out for almost a year," guitarist Ryan Ross said. "And that kind of stuff doesn't seem to happen anymore, so it's really hard to judge how the album is doing based on record sales, you know? We look at that, and we don't really know what that even means. All we can go off is being on this tour and seeing that people are getting into the new stuff, and that's the only way we can tell firsthand if things are going well or not."

"It's a really weird time for music and it's hard to tell where you stand, and all the things that used to tell you about your band have kind of gone away. So how you perceive yourself has changed," drummer Spencer Smith added. "Luckily for us, rock bands have always been about playing live, [which is] good for us, because we're a real band who plays our own instruments, so we love being able to do it. And luckily that's always going to be there, because you can't download the concert ticket."

And while Odd.'s reception has forced Panic to rethink the concept of success, the record has also put them in some rather unfamiliar territory: They've become (sorta) elder statesmen in the Fueled By Ramen/ Decaydance/ Pete Wentz universe that has dominated the rock scene for nearly three years now. And as such, they've begun to enjoy the perks of life as a big-time rock act ... on a decidedly Fueled By Ramen/ Decaydance/ Pete Wentz budget, that is.

"We've got some flowers onstage now — they're fake though," Smith laughed. "They have to be, because a month into the tour, they probably would've gotten shredded up."

"We had an idea to get a tour plant to take care of, in that whole spirit, but we have yet to do that," bassist Jon Walker added. "You know, maybe a fern or something. A ficus."

Glastonbury headliners revealed

Jay Z, Kings of Leon and The Verve have been announced as this year's Glastonbury headliners.
Following months of speculation, in which Radiohead, Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin were rumoured to play on the Pyramid stage, the headliners were finally disclosed yesterday.
Kings of Leon will headline on Friday night; Jay Z on Saturday; and The Verve will close the festival on Sunday evening.
Other acts also confirmed to play are CSS, Neil Diamond and Hot Chip. The Guardian is also reporting that Leonard Cohen will perform on stage for the first time in 14 years.
Of the headliners, organiser Emily Eavis said: "We're absolutely thrilled to have them. The Verve are a classic Glastonbury band who've played some amazing sets at the festival over the years. Now that they're back together again, playing brilliant shows, we've finally got them doing the headline slot that they always deserved. I can't wait."
She continued: "Jay-Z is coming all the way over from New York especially to play the festival. It's a real coup for us. He might seem like a slightly unusual choice for Glastonbury, but we've never just gone for the obvious acts and we're so honoured to have one of the most talented and respected musicians on the planet coming to the farm. He's an amazing artist and an incredible live act. I think he's going to blow people away."
She added: "That leaves Kings of Leon. They've come through the ranks at Glastonbury since they rocked the New Bands Tent in 2003. We think they're one of the most exciting live bands out there right now and that they're ready to make the leap to join a great heritage of Friday night headliners which includes Coldplay and White Stripes."
The full line-up for the Festival will be announced in June with the three-day event taking place from 27 to 29 June.
Fans who want one of the 137,500 tickets on offer must provide contact details and a passport photo in order to receive a registration number.
The number does not guarantee entry to the festival at Worthy Farm in Pilton, however fans will not be able to buy a ticket without one.
They have until Friday 14 March to register their interest via the festival's website. Tickets will then go on sale on Sunday 6 April.

Ozzy Osbourne - Osbourne Wins Damages From Uk Tabloid

Rocker OZZY OSBOURNE has accepted libel damages from a British tabloid newspaper after it made scathing remarks over his appearance at this year's (08) Brit Awards.

Journalists at newspaper the Daily Star claimed the Black Sabbath frontman ruined the show in February by throwing production of the live U.K. TV event into chaos after suffering a health scare.

The article under fire, entitled 'Ozzy Freak Show', falsely reported the star fell over twice, prompting Brit Award bosses to call an emergency meeting over whether they should withdraw him from the event and send him to hospital, reports Sky News.

The rocker was presenting the show alongside his wife Sharon and their two children Kelly and Jack.

The undisclosed amount will be donated to music manager Sharon's charity, the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program.

Osbourne's lawyer John Kelly stated editors at the publication now knew the allegations were "completely untrue".

The Osbournes have yet to make an official comment on the libel win as WENN goes to press.
